D9 – Sept 9 – Yekaterinburg’ railway station (staff)

This morning, we were supposed to visit the Trains museum but, like everything we’ve tried to do in that city, we failed, as it was closed on Mondays. So we’ve spent quite some time hanging around the railway station, an amazing anthill.
Inside the trains, we’ve already had a chance to meet prodvonistas, men & women who are responsible for a coach. They clean the toilets, give you sheets, maintain order… They never laugh. Imagine the worst teacher you’ve ever had ? It’s worse. You know you will never be friends. But they wake you up before you miss your station, which is still the most important, isn’t it ?
Overall, one million people work for the Russian trains. The trains’ company is the first employer of the country. 1 prodvonista per wagon, plus drivers, plus cleaners, plus checkers, plus controllers… Let’s have a closer look.

The prodvonistas, back and forth…
