One hundred kilometers North Cairns, is Kulki, later called Cape tribulation by Captain Cook. Here, the rainforest tumbles down to magnificent beaches separated by a cape.
Though, you cannot swim on those white-sand beaches, because of the crocodiles, again! When going South, into the Daintree forest…
… (looks nice, doesn’t it ?) you can get an opportunity to go on a cruise on the Daintree river, crocodiles stand vigil, again!
However, it didn’t seem to bother much our Captain. Still better than our guide whom, in the rainforest, took out of his pocket very scary and realistic spiders that scared the hell out of us !
Fortunately, nice animals were waiting for us on the way back.
This is a cassowary, but we didn’t see any.
On the other hand, I’ve seen this one, I don’t know who he is though..
And then, lovely wallabies. They looked like kangaroos, but smaller. Kind of rabbits when you see them from the road, jumping all over the meadows… A pity that I don’t have my telephoto lens anymore.
My friend Marie, you was in South Australia with me those last two weeks, has sent me this one, it should help you it getting a better idea on how cute a wallaby can be…
