We are, here, in the Taupo volcanic zone.  Wai-O-Tapu is right on the edge of one of the four volcanic calderas within the zone.

Hectares of geisers, bubbling mods, yellow lakes, ochre rocks… It really looked like being on another planet…

    these images are so fantastic, I agree, lands seem very unreal…
    It’s funny, on your first photo we can see like big matches,
    which would have lighted the lakes…
