Today, we stop going South for a moment. Indeed, we have decided to get on the “TranzAlpine Train”.
We leave the West Coast from Greymouth, and will reach Christchurch on the East Coast five hours and 223 km (139 mi) later, after an amazing crossing of the South Island Mountains… The Alps !
Kiwi Rail Scenic Journeys operates the line. Nice branding, isn’t it ?

On one side you have the Pacific plaque, on the other side the Australia plaque…
